Durango High School kicked off Thursday with several announcements about meetings, opportunities, and club activities happening on campus.
Members of KISS, the legendary 1970s hair band performing at DHS Rocks, are reminded that there will be a mandatory meeting during lunch today in Mr. Foster’s room. All performers scheduled for the second-period DHS Rocks event should attend.
Students interested in exploring future education and career paths also have opportunities coming up. An Admissions Representative from San Juan College will be visiting the Counseling Office on Tuesday, March 24, from 1:00–1:45 p.m. to answer questions about programs and admissions. In addition, a U.S. Air Force representative will be available on Wednesday, March 25, from 11:00–11:45 a.m. for students who want to learn more about military careers and opportunities.
Student leadership opportunities are also available. Student Council appointed position applications are currently available outside the front office. These positions allow students to get involved and make a positive impact within the school community. Applications must be submitted to Olivia Cuellar or Michelle Flom in Room W2118 by March 27 at 4 p.m.
In club news, DHS’s writing club, the Purgatory Pen Project, meets every Thursday during lunch in Room 2014. Students who enjoy writing are encouraged to join and collaborate with fellow writers while exploring their creativity.
Students are encouraged to stay involved and participate in the many opportunities happening around campus.
