Let’s start with the freshmen. I interviewed two of the freshmen this year: Adam Martinez and Curtis Miller. Adam’s hobby is hunting. He has been hunting for 4 years and started at age 10 with his family. He likes the thrill of hiking through the woods and seeing places he’s never been.

His dad got him into hunting, then later on, he took the hunter’s safety course to get certified, and now, depending on the animal hunting season, he hunts with his family. When asked if there was one thing you could say to convince people to try hunting, he said, “I don’t really know, it depends on what you like.” He also said, “Don’t make any noise. A lot of things are going on while hunting,” and then said, “If you like the outdoors, it’s a chance to see new places, and if you’re fine with shooting an animal.”
On the other side of the spectrum, Curtis Miller, whose hobby lies on the stage. Curtis has been in the theater for three years. He does theater for the social experience. He got into it because he heard someone talking about it, decided to give it a try, stuck with it, and is now in the theater at the school. He especially likes theater for the community. “The community is the best part,” Curtis explains, noting that the social experience is the heart of his hobby.
