The El Diablo Media Network is happy to announce Mr. Montgomery (Monte) as the teacher of the week. Monty is the HOSA advisor and health science teacher. He was inspired to start teaching the pathways class in 2019 when he and Dr. Hoerl had a vision for students interested in healthcare. Monty’s favorite part of teaching is watching students grow as they continue to take his classes. He enjoys seeing them set plans for success and watch them succeed in their goals. When he is struggling to get through the day, he focuses on the goals he has set and where he wants to go, and on helping his students go into the future. Monte doesn’t have a favorite class to teach, “They all have their own little spins.” Level one opens students’ eyes to the opportunities in the program. Level two lets students start to break down languages and words, and levels three and four allow students to start becoming real medical professionals.
In high school, Monte’s favorite class was human anatomy and physiology. John Burns was a teacher who made a big impact on Monte. Burns’ career was similar to what Monte is doing now. “I find myself channeling a lot of what he did because it was really good.”
If Monte weren’t a teacher, he would like to go into real estate or become a property manager. An interesting fact is that he has published research in his field of work. Monte is our first teacher of the week! This is something new this semester that the El Diablo is doing. Stay tuned for the next Instagram poll to nominate our next teacher of the week. Congrats Monte!
