The 3.0 update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons is free, and adds on some fantastic ways to improve the game, whether you’ve been playing for years, or are just getting started.
The first addition coming to the game will be slumber islands, a way to customize a new island with items you have already obtained in the game. Additionally, these islands are not tied to real-world weather or time, so players are given full creative control. This is a great option for those without space to decorate on their main island. Just lay down on a bed and select the slumber option to access this new feature.
Perhaps the biggest new addition is a hotel located on the dock. This will be run by Kapp’n and his family, and will bring in villagers as hotel guests. You will be able to decorate rooms in exchange for a new currency, hotel tickets, which can be exchanged for hotel exclusive items.
Home storage will be increased from 5,000 items to 9,000 items, and players will now be able to store trees, flowers, and shrubs.
Resetti, a mostly retired character from earlier games, will be able to clean large sections of player’s islands, including stubborn flowers that won’t stop popping up. You will be able to save the items you want, while getting rid of the ones you don’t, saving yourself from hours of tedious work.
There will be a collaboration with Lego in which players can obtain Lego themed items from the Nook Shopping app. Additionally, Legend of Zelda and Splatoon will have amiibo cards for villagers themed to their respective games, creating a wonderful crossover.
The update will also introduce bulk crafting, so players can select the quantity of an item they would like to craft, instead of crafting one item at a time.
The update dropped a day early on January 14th, so get out your switch and get ready to enjoy the game like never before!
