With Halloween behind us, the ultimate question arises: Is it too early to celebrate Christmas? We asked students and staff around DHS if it’s too early to celebrate. Here’s what they have to say:
Starting, Mrs. Fosco thinks it’s way too early to celebrate Christmas. She starts celebrating Christmas on December 1st. Her favorite Christmas song is “O Holy Night” by Adolphe Adam.
Mr. Kincade starts to celebrate Christmas on December 20th. He was then called a grinch by one of his students. His favorite song is “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Idina Menzel. Mrs. Asa’s favorite holiday song is “The Christmas Song” by Nat King Cole Trio. She agrees with Kincade that it is way too early to celebrate. She starts celebrating in December.
Shaylee Valencia, Junior, starts celebrating Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. Her favorite part is celebrating with food, and her favorite Christmas song is “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” originally sung by Gene Autry.
Asael Jimenez, senior, also starts celebrating December 1st. He enjoys the presents. His favorite song is “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey.
El Diablo Media Network Staff writers, Olivia Glover and Josh Rodriguez, both say it’s too early for Christmas. Olivia starts putting up decorations after Thanksgiving, and Josh starts celebrating the first week of December. Their favorite Christmas songs are “Fairytale of New York” by The Pogues and “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms.
Finally, Grace Howell waits till after Thanksgiving. She enjoys being around family and the snow. Her favorite Christmas song is “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen.
Addie Zahradnik, sophomore, says it’s never too early to celebrate Christmas! She’s already listening to Christmas music. “Last Christmas” and “Jingle Bell Rock” are her favorite songs. She loves the decorations and vibes Christmas brings.
Freshman Vienne Walker enjoys the break from school. She’s ready to start celebrating Christmas.
Another freshman, Irie Cady, is super excited for Christmas. He likes spending time with family. Irie likes the song “Jingle Bells.”
Another DHS student thinks it’s never too early to celebrate Christmas. They love the snow and presents. Their favorite song is another classic, “Jingle Bells.”
Junior Kylee Cheese starts celebrating Christmas as soon as it gets cold outside. She enjoys being with her family and celebrating Jesus. “Jingle Bells” always gets her in the holiday spirit.
Another staff writer, Teigyn Yoho-Price says, “No it’s not, tsk, tsk, tsk” when asked if it’s too early for Christmas. He enjoys the snow and music that comes with the holidays. His favorite Christmas song is “Wonderful Christmastime” by Demi Lovato.
Teacher Darrien Clitso starts putting up Christmas decorations after Halloween. Darrien’s favorite Christmas song is “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber.
Another student says “I’ve already put up my Christmas tree!”
Lastly, security specialist, Iesha Williams says, “Christmas is a season, and Thanksgiving is a day to get with loved ones. Everyday is a day you should be grateful for.” Her favorite part about the holidays is getting together and eating. Iesha’s favorite Christmas song is “Jingle Bell Rock.”
Based on the seventeen people we interviewed, eight say it’s too early to celebrate Christmas and nine people say it’s never too early. Regardless, it’s most important to find joy in the way that feels right to you. Have a great fall break DHS!
