Astrology is largely looked down upon in religions. Astrology has a reputation for being “devils work” or “fortune telling” in the way of a birth chart. Though it’s hard to believe, astrology has been practiced by lots of ancient civilizations for longer than some organized religions today. Astrology is not absent in Christianity, in fact it is mentioned a number of times. In the Old Testament, Isaiah 47:13 it says, “All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, and let them save you from what is coming upon you.” There are also other instances when astrology is mentioned. Astrology is also spoken about in the Talmud. Rabbi Hanina says in Shabbat 156, “A constellation makes one wise and a constellation makes one wealthy.” Astrology is practiced in Buddhism to this day. King explains, “They focus on how a person’s life may unfold over the span of the years, reflecting experiences of karmic patterns, some possibly built up from previous lives.” Though astrology is not a religion, they are entwined in some ways and both connect you to a stronger power. Centuries ago, astrology was considered science and it would help predict famine and floods, among other things.

Adaptable Gemini:

Gemini is the third sign in the zodiac, an air sign, mutable, and the Gemini symbol are the twins. Geminis are known for being flexible and adaptable, sometimes leading people to believe that they are two faced and have two different personalities. Gemini dates are May 21st- June 20th. People with their sun in Gemini, also called solar Geminis, are curious people and their urge for self-expression is strong. Geminis tend to adapt to the moods of people around them, leading them to be friends with all sorts of people. Though they are adaptable and observant, they are not easy to get close to. Geminis are scattered and it is hard to know how they really feel at times. People often don’t trust Geminis with secrets because of the nervous air that often surrounds them. Though they have some down sides, they can be fun to be around because of their ability to take things lightly. People with their moon in Gemini, also referred to as lunar Geminis, are witty, pleasant, and charming people. They are always interesting, knowing a little about everything. Lunar Geminis tend to worry a lot and become restless easily. Though they dislike housework, they enjoy home improvement. Reorganizing their home tends to make them happy because routine and consistency bore them. Lunar Gemini’s are sociable people and come off as friendly. They are good in big crowds and at organizing get-togethers. They can also be moody, becoming mad or agitated easily. They tend to analyze things so talking things out is a way they like to fix things.

This year is a good year for Gemini. 2023 brings new opportunities and a bright future. Working towards goals and furthering your knowledge is in the cards for Gemini. Mrs. Kraska, the newspaper and yearbook teacher at Durango High School is a Gemini and she expresses how she has recently been, “trained to be a video journalist for the local news network.” That career opportunity furthers her knowledge on interviews and video cameras which is needed because she is the teacher of a video production class. This year is also a good year for making new connections and making connections stronger. Mrs. Kraska is new to Durango and has been making some new connections within her community. She explains that, “in our neighborhood there’s a family that has two young children who we have started to become good friends with.” She has also rebuilt a connection with a friend that she had lost a connection with. Celia Galavan, a freshman at Durango High School who is also a Gemini states that, “I have made many new friends this year…a lot of my friendships have grown a lot this month.” The good fortune and success this year will bring will help better Gemini’s health and overall happiness.
