A new school year means new freshmen coming in from Escalante, Miller, and Mountain Middle Schools! Class of 2029 has finally arrived in DHS, and all the freshmen are already excited to be here! Especially when during Demon Day, everyone was super hyped and ready to be here!
If you were here last year, it’s very likely that you’re probably aware of how crowded it can be in the first month or two of the new school year, considering everyone is still trying to understand where their classes are and especially if they need to go across the school just to reach their class. Though it’s definitely much easier as the admin has allocated an entire 9 minutes for the passing periods on block days, as previously it was 5 minutes.
Being a Link Leader myself, I find myself connecting with the freshmen that are trying to find their ways in the hall, and I encourage everyone else to try and help someone who looks a little lost to see if you can point them in the right direction. It’s never a required thing to do, but maybe you’ll end up making a new friend in the same scenario.
Though, it seems like they’re fing their own way through the halls on their own often! “I really like the system where the crowds in the hall go two ways, and with how open the halls are, it allows me to get to my locker easily.” said by Riley Engle. But others think that it’s more deep than that, “It really depends on what period it is, […] even though I had only bumped into a few people, I feel like I’m moving through the halls well.” said Aiden Hammie.
So just make sure you’re also being respectful to freshmen, and vice versa! If people in general are being particularly slow in the halls, while an optimal solution is to just try and walk around them, it’ll help if you kindly asked them to speed up for the sake of other people who are also walking behind them. This way, you aren’t allowing the opportunity for them to get bumped into the hallway by someone else, which will make both people happy! Good luck!
