What is choir really? Most people just think it’s a group of people who get together and sing songs, and yes that is true, but choir is also a place where people can connect with one another.
Choir is a place where no one is judged or disrespected. Choir is a group of people who come together to sing, usually in harmony and often under the direction of a conductor.
Choirs can perform a wide range of music—from classical and religious pieces to modern pop and cultural songs. Singing in a choir involves teamwork, listening, and blending voices to create a unified sound. It’s not only a musical activity but also a way to build community, express emotion, and connect with others through shared performance.
Emma Stephenson shared that her favorite song for this show was 9-5, by Dolly Parton. She said it was her favorite because they go to do jobs and pretend to work on stage. “I got to sweep around the stage with a broom and I thought it was really fun.”
Aunika Tweedie shared, “I think the practicing before the concert went really well and we all worked hard especially during those last few rehearsals. You could tell that everyone was nervous, but super excited. During the concert, everything came together okay. We were confident and the energy on stage felt really special. It was clear the audience felt it too.”
This concert was extra special because it was Mrs. Lyons last concert with her choir students and most of her students are seniors, so they were all super emotional too.
