Durango High School’s Troupe 1096 is performing Hadestown Teen Edition, a modern retelling of Greek myths centered on love, fate, and the struggle between hope and despair.
Hadestown is a wonderful experience for the actress and the audience. It is so much fun for the cast to perform and put on a good show for people. “I think it’s a very hidden message, but it has a lot about poverty, and lots of messages about love and relationships, and selfishness versus selflessness, and I think it’s a very modern thing,” said Gillian Reynolds.
The show features live music, standout performances by student actors, and a strong focus on emotional and political themes like poverty and selflessness. Seniors like Donovan Dolton (Hades) and Bella Lucero (Orpheus) reflect on the challenges and rewards of portraying complex characters. The production is noted for its creativity, technical design, and heartfelt performances—marking a powerful sendoff for the graduating class.
