AI has been a problem since it started. We have been skeptical and fearful of AI for a long time.. There have been theories of technology taking over humans since the 1927 German movie “Metropolis”. 

But, how does it affect high school students? Many teachers say AI encourages academic dishonesty, however there are some educators, like ELA teacher Mr. Joseph Grams who have a different opinion.. “I believe with the right tools and balance, AI will be a useful tool in the classroom. Using it for idea generation is a great idea and I encourage my students to do that.” Grams thinks that AI could be used in the education system, but with rules.

Freshman Holland Berryman said “I think AI could totally be a useful tool in school, but it could also be abused easily.” For Holland, with restrictions AI could help the school for the better, and be a useful tool to help students learn. 

Freshman Cerys Rickard argues that AI shouldn’t be used at all. “I mean sure, technology has helped us to improve, but I think it could be dangerous if students just use it for everything”. Rickard doesnt believe it should be used by  anyone under 18, and that no school should use it under any circumstance. 

Whether AI is good or bad, only the future can tell.
