The weather this spring has been turbulent in Durango this week, with some days ranging from hot to cold in just a couple of hours. This is very different from last year’s weather in April, which was relatively normal, being hot and sunny almost every day. But why is it so different this year?
The explanation could be linked to our dry, La Niña winter. We didn’t get as much snow this year as we did last year in the winter months. We might just be getting some really late snow this year.
Students are responding with things like “ it’s snowing now” and “why is it hot, it was so cold two hours ago”. This inconsistency with the weather is confusing and leaves us wondering why.
