DHS has a lot of interesting events, from plays to talent shows, teh highschool really has it all. But one thing stands out above the rest. This show, which happens once a semester, is a staple of our school’s community.
This event really allows these talented young individuals to show their true abilities. The beautiful art displayed in the DHS common area was meant to celebrate the accomplishments of student artists and provide experience showcasing art. Ms.karpel said, “It’s a way to show off the work and talents of the studio visual art students.” This event provides a unique experience that nowhere else can provide. It allows budding artists to showcase their skills and present their hard work to the world.
The showcase was also experienced in exhibiting work made specifically for the show. According to Ms. Karpel, “All 2D studio artists are required to learn how to exhibit their work professionally by making it prior to the show.” Students from every medium of visual arts participated in showing their gorgeous work!
As a practical part of the visual arts final, the show also serves as an opportunity for students to practice critiquing each other’s art. Ms. Karpel added, “These same students are required to write a critique of another student’s work in the show as part of the final exam. This is an authentic way for students to practice giving good feedback to another student, a skill that is critical to artists.” The art show provided a much needed chance for students to brush up on valuable skills.
Overall, the End of Semester Art Show was a great opportunity for art students to flex their artist muscles, and for the DHS commons area to be brightened with some fantastic art!
