As of today, January 20th, 2017, Donald Trump is the president of the United States. Obama is now only a civilian, and Trump will take his seat in the Oval Office. Durango High School students talk about what they are most looking forward to or most worried about as President Trump makes his way up the White House’s front steps.

Reporter: What are you most looking forward to as Trump becomes president?

Joe Pope: I’m optimistic to the fact that he is a successful businessman and America is like a big corporation and maybe having a businessman will help the economy. I’m looking forward to my republican ideals being upheld, and for things to pass in Congress and real change to happen. I’m looking forward to a fearless proud America.

Jamie Hitti: I’m looking forward to seeing what changes are made and if our country crumbles to pieces.

R: What are you most worried about as Trump becomes president?

JP: I’m worried that he won’t do what he said.

JH: I’m worried about having someone who is sexist as my leader.

R: Do you think he’ll be in office all four years? Eight years? Why?

JP:I think 8 years because he will be a successful president.

JH: I don’t think he will get reelected after his four year term.

R: What do you expect will be the most memorable thing Trump does or has done?

JP:I think the wall and how he will put tariffs on goods.

JH: I think the most memorable thing he has done was talking about building a wall.
